Life sometimes lends itself to broken dreams
Loves risks are broken hearts
The gleam in tragic lovers eyes
Blinds them from these sadder parts
Life is what we make of it
And we must do the best we can
But that is so much easier
With a loved one's heart and hand

For a man and woman whose love is daily underscored
By monogamy and trust and truth and shared concerns
And the endearing little differences that each other
learns
A loving couple holding hands and each others hearts
Will grow together in love and age until death do
they part
