Poems And Readings
The Wedding Prayer
Here we are standing before God
And our friends and family
About to say the vows we made
Promising to love and cherish each other
But before we do I think I should tell you
That I have something to say to everyone

Before God and man I pray that I'm faithful to
you
I'm a good mother for our children
That when we fight; I choose not to walk away angry
But I choose to work it out with you instead
That when I am tempted to leave you
Instead of walking away from the best thing
I choose to tell you how I feel
That way we are always open to each other
That instead of nitpicking about everything
I let it go and enjoy time with you
Instead of putting on a mask
I will choose to tell you when I'm hurting
I also pray for you my love
That when things get tough
You don't choose to look elsewhere
For what you need and want
But you look to the one you love
That when we fight my love
You don't take your anger out on me
You choose to walk away and calm down
That you are the father and husband
God wants you to be for this family
That we are creating together
And the world sees what marriage is about

This is the wedding prayer
For I pray for God to remind us
Of what attracted us to each other
That the love we have stays strong
Through the years we grow closer
Instead of farther apart
