Poems For Birthday
Happy Birthday Boyfriend
This day I've experienced,now 6 times over.
Filling out your card I realized
how much time and how many experiences
I have shared with you,
I found it hard to find something new to say
because I have always felt the same way about you,
from the first birthday, to this one.
I wish you the best for the year
I think you are great and deserve great things
I believe in you and think you are a strong man
I know you will accomplish your dreams,
you will be happy if you let yourself.

And I feel these things strongly, with all I have
and I don't want them to be underminded by being
written
every year, for every celebration.
But then I remember that last year was different.
Do you remember?
You were 'seeing' someone else,
and our 'celebration' well it wasn't really.
We talked in my car, and you cried because I knew
about her,
and because you knew you'd messed up big time
but couldn't figure out how to turn things around.
And I cried because I had lost my best friend
and because I knew I would never be able to
completely let you go,
you had my soul
and nothing I could say or do could change it.
That was one of the worst days I remember
and to think one year later, I'd be writing a mushy
love poem
about you - my official boyfriend,
life is unpredictable to say the least.

I really feel you have grown into your own,
you grew out of your fear,
and realized you had to do something
to get what you wanted for yourself.
And I couldnt' be more happier that you did.
You're everything I need, you satisfy me in a way
that you never did before.
we each have grown and found our way back into our
love
and you know, it's stronger than before, and better
than before.
Maybe all those trials and years apart
maybe they were there for a good reason,
to help us become better people to make us a better
couple.
I have faith we will be together for a long time,
I have no fears, because I believe in myself now.
I trust myself, I know myself, and I am a better
girlfriend now,
just like you are a better man.
We've made it, and I'm glad I never gave up.
